Frank Matheis

Frank is the publisher, writer and editor of this web resource.

In 2018, Frank conceived and curated the American Roots Music– A photo documentary exhibit of music and musicians in the acoustic traditionsat the Howland Cultural Center, in Beacon, New York, bringing together internationally renowned music photographers. This is the first exhibit Frank has curated. The Photo Galleries on this website proudly include most of the featured photographers of that physical exhibit.

Rather daringly and audaciously, Frank is showcasing his own photos along with these great photographers, although he certainly does not consider himself in their league, or even as a photo professional. Mostly, he photographs as part of his journalistic documentation work. Frank has often published his photos in Living Blues magazine, and on thecountryblues.com

He was honored by ArtsWestchester, the biggest and oldest arts organization in New York for his photo work. While he did not win the contest, his photos surprisingly came in second in the prestigious Lawrence Salley Photography Award Exhibition, and his work was selected in the “close finalists” showcase. Considering the major professional photographers who competed, this was quite an achievement for an amateur.
