A letter from the publisher: Exciting Happenings

    Dear Readers,

Wow…Living Blues is featuring the new generation of the acoustic blues in the current issue, with Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton on the cover. That’s a wonderful thing for the genre, as Living Blues is the blues magazine in the world. The focus on acoustic blues is a major feather in our cap.

They have an amazing photographer Bill Steber who showcased him with an early 20th Century look. Very cool. Check it out.

I had just spent some time traveling with harmonica ace Phil Wiggins and have some interesting things in store.

You might have noticed that for the past few six months I have been very slow in posting new profiles. The main reason is that I broke my left index finger right in half, which significantly cramped my style. One hand was wrapped up in a lobster claw and it was hard to do anything.

As you can see, we are playing catch-up. New profiles are up for Jimbo Mathus, Luther Dickinson, Vasti Jackson, Maria Muldaur, Rev. Wilkins, Rev. Jones, and a concert review of the Country Blues Summit Alvin Youngblood Hart, Phil Wiggins, Corey Harris and Guy Davis at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Here is the next up lineup for artists for who we plan a full profile:

Colin Linden. Gypsy Bill (UK). Eleanor Ellis. Ben Peyton Wiley. Tony Furtado. Also, Phil Wiggins told me about Jeff Scott, a Piedmont style player in the Washington, DC metropolitan area who is up and coming, and also the nephew of my old friend John Jackson.

Keep us in your bookmarks, tell your friends and take good care of you and all of yours.

    Sincerely,

    Frank  Matheis
